Created to Worship (Part 3)

Scripture clearly teaches that the worship of God needs to be a priority in the life of every Christian.

Worshipping God is something every Christian should be highly motivated to do on a daily basis.

This series of posts will discuss different aspects of worship.

We worship God because He is the creator and sustainer of the universe.

We worship God because He created all things.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1 ESV)

All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3 ESV)

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” (Revelation 4:11 ESV)

We worship God because He sustains the universe.

“Stand up and bless the LORD your God from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.  “You are the LORD, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you. (Nehemiah 9:5-6 ESV)

He (Jesus Christ) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.  For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.  And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:15-17 ESV)

We worship God because He created us in His image.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”  (Genesis 1:26-28 ESV)

We worship God because we were created for His glory.

Bring all who claim me as their God,
for I have made them for my glory.
It was I who created them.’”
(Isaiah 43:7 NLT)

and his courts with praise!
