Act On What You Know

How much of the scriptures do you understand, and understand well?

You probably understand more scripture than you think you understand.

Take a moment to list 10 Biblical principles that are clear to you.  (If you need a starting point, go back and review the scriptures I used in previous posts.  Surely you understand many of these passages and can apply them to your life.)

Are you practicing the Biblical principles you know and understand?

All too often we get hung up on the passages of scripture that are confusing to us.  Just know that there are passages of scripture that you will not understand.   You are not accountable for the things that the Lord our God has chosen to keep “secret”.

“The Lord our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions.  (Deuteronomy 29:29 NLT)

You are, however, accountable for all the Biblical truths that God has revealed to you.

bible-3

Act on what you know about God’s will for your life.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24-25 NIV)

If you ignore the Biblical truths that you have learned, you can expect “crashes” in your life.

“But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” (Matthew 7:26-27 NIV)

Don’t worry about the parts of scripture you don’t understand.  Rather, focus on doing everything that you know God wants you to be doing. This will radically change your life.

Bible recent 2 small

But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. (James 1:25 New Living Translation NLT)
